NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The deadline to register to vote in the Tuesday, Nov. 4, state election is Wednesday Oct. 15, for all municipalities in the state.
City and town clerks' offices will be open until 8 p.m. on that day; smaller towns, such as Clarksburg, will have registration from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8. Voters can check their voter registration status on the secretary of commonwealth's website or contact their town or city clerk.
Absentee ballots also available in your local town clerks' offices, on the secretary of the commonwealth's website or here as downloadable pdf.
Residents may vote absentee if they will be absent from town on Election Day, have a physical disability that prevents them from voting at the polling place, or cannot vote at the polls because of religious beliefs.
If requesting an absentee ballot from a town or city clerk, the application must be submitted in writing no later than noon on Monday, Nov. 3. Family members of a person qualified to vote by absentee may request an absentee ballot on their behalf. If requesting a ballot by mail or phone, do so as soon as possible as the clerk must mail the ballot to the voter.
A voter may also apply for an absentee ballot and then vote in the clerk's office during the same visit.
Voting on Nov. 4 will run from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. A list of candidates can be found on our Election page.
