LENOX, Mass. — The Lenox Library will hold its fifth annual ScrabbleRouser Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 9 at the library, a three-round tournament with play beginning at 2 p.m.
Players will win prizes and bragging rights by raising the most pledge money, earning the most points in three 30-minute games, or coming up with the most creative “courthouse-related” word. Tournament sponsors include Kimble Farms Retirement Community, The Red Lion Inn, Toole Insurance and Wellesley Financial Group and Insurance Agency.
Teams made up of friends, family, or co-workers will be divided into two divisions based on their experience and level of play. Up to four players per team, ages 12 and older, will play one other team at a time in three-minute turns for 30 minutes, using the rules of the popular board game. The team from each division scoring the highest points over three games wins the grand prize as well as their team name on a plaque to be displayed at the location of the team’s choice.
“Cheat” your way into the winner’s circle with a donation – purchase help from a Scrabble expert, buy a peek at the official word list or create a blank tile from any letter – each a $5 donation to the library. Spectators can come and view the competition for $5/person or $10/family. Refreshments will be served. Proceeds from the ScrabbleRouser will support the library’s many services, collections, and programs.
Additional information and game rules are available at www.lenoxlib.org. To register, contact Jennifer Knopf, Fundraising Events Coordinator, at the library before Oct. 27 at 413-637-2630 or jknopf@lenoxlib.org.
