EGREMONT, Mass. — Blue Rider Stables has promoted Stephanie Bergman to interim executive director.

Bergman has been with Blue Rider Stables for three years as operations manager. In this role, she created structures, policies and procedures that laid the foundation for significant organizational growth.

Christine Sierau, co-founder and former executive director, will now focus exclusively on program delivery in her role as head riding instructor. Since 1992, Sierau has been developing Blue Rider Stables' programs and lessons, integrating the intuitive qualities of horses with her knowledge of body awareness, child development and the special needs of people with disabilities.

"Christine is widely known as a gifted and dedicated instructor, who has sustained Blue Rider since its inception. Separating the roles of overall executive management and program delivery reflects continued work between Christine and the Board to strengthen and expand the organization as demand for our services grows," said board Chair Michael Fernbacher.

"Stephanie's knowledge, skills, and drive are crucial to bringing Blue Rider to the next level of excellence. I am excited to partner with her in her expanded role, allowing me to dedicate my time to our riders and programs," Sierau said.

"I am thrilled to take the reins from Christine to help move Blue Rider Stables into its next phase," Bergman said. "Christine has given so much of herself to this organization over the past 25 years, and created an amazing program that has helped thousands of people. I am honored to work with the staff and Board to successfully lead the organization through this transition and into a place of sustainable growth."

Bergman holds an MS in environmental education from the Audubon Expedition Institute/Lesley University and a BS in biology from the University of Michigan. She has more than 20 years of experience working in the nonprofit sector and is passionate about helping charitable organizations increase their capacity through program development and evaluation, community/client relations and fundraising.

Blue Rider offers many family events, including Fun Day on Aug. 26.
